Hi, I was in practice up until 2013 in Hawaii. Almost daily, I would receive faxes from 1-800 of patients there were not mine or of patients that had expired RX's. They were requesting different contact lenses that were prescribed to them. There are medical reasons why I would prescribe a specific contact lenses. For 1800 to fill a different RX makes no sense to me. This is a danger to my patients who only I know their particular eye health. A pharmacy wouldn't change a class of medication with out having a doctor's permission. Many times there changed out of a specific contact lens because they had had an infection, allergies, were not compliant, a bad reaction to the material that either lead to scarring or infection. I find it irresponsible for the government to allow an internet company to dictated or change the type of contact lens that is otherwise prescribed by a doctor.
