16 CFR Part 315; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request; Contact Lens Rule: FTC Project No. R511995
Filling a contact lens prescription in accordance with an optometrist's or ophthalmologist's yearly examination is essential to eye health. Only the doctor has the training to know what fitting parameters, including power and brand, are appropriate. The patient's history and conditions are also a part of this determination. Any company or person dispensing contact lenses has a responsibility to the patient to verify the prescription is current and correct directly from the doctor's office or a signed rx. Any effort to avoid this verification is negligence and can cause great harm to a patient's ocular health.
