I am shocked by the proposed changes in contact lens verification. Even now the online companies complete the order without me verifying it, I cannot imagine how many more issues it will cause when patients are not needed to specify a brand or need a verification. To just choose a parameter and prescription is not a complete accurate contact lens fitting. Patients are specific to certain materials and designs of lenses and requires a proper annual fitting. To "unbrand" contacts would essentially be shooting darts for patients. Also having a rx last for 5 or 10 years logically makes no sense. It is like telling a diabetic or hypertensive patient "here is a medicine to take care of your condition. see you in 5-10yrs!" No need to see you for 5-10yrs? Please do not let these changes occur or I can gurantee one person's vision will be affected negatively by this and that itself is too much to lose. Thank you. Alice Ballesteros O.D.
