I, the doctor, and my staff are compliant with the rules and regulations laid out by this act. However, there are many vendors whose unfair practices need to be addressed. For example, When a prescription for contact lenses states no substitution it should filled as such. Certain vendors are changing patients into a different brand or a different prescription. This is not acceptable as sometimes because of certain conditions a patient can only wear one brand or prescription without compromising their eye health. If a prescription is expired a vendor can not fill another year's supply of contact lenses. This happens far too many times. Most of the time, these patients have a significant change in their prescription. There needs to be a way for these vendors to not refill prescriptions and alert the patient that the prescription is expired. These practices by vendors make the patients see contact lenses as a commodity when it it in fact a medical device. Thank you.
