As an Optometrist practicing for 14 years, I can't stress enough the importance of yearly eye exams. This allows us the chance to maintain a patient's corneal health, vision, and overall eye health. Allowing a prescription to expire after a lengthier amount of time allows a window of opportunity for corneal issues to arise. This also applies to filling expired prescriptions. Verifying a contact lens prescription is extremely important. Filling a prescription incorrectly can cause extreme problems for the patient's cornea and overall eye health.
