As an Optometrist who is self employed I find it disheartening that after I work so hard with a patient who may require numerous follow ups and chair time that they go elsewhere to purchase their contacts somce they can find them cheaper then my cost on them. I have had 4 cases in the past week that online the lenses are being sold cheaper then what I can even purchase them for. Unilateral pricing will help the provider be compensated for time and effort spent with each patient. Also when we are expected to return requests in 24 hours but these requests are sent during the middle of the night- it gives us less then 6 hours to respond as we get it when we open and then have a busy day with patients and are expected to then do this as an immediate urgency. Most times when we send a verification back the patient already has contacts and if the script is old the patient mad at us and wants us to fix it
