I have no problem giving someone their prescription for contact lenses once the fit is completed. If someone wants to purchase their lenses elsewhere thats fine with me. What is not fine with me is that often the Internet sellers do not play by the rules, and show no interest in patient health and safety. For example, we often get a fax right after we close, and because if we do not reply in 8 hours the order is filled, patients often get orders filled even though we have not seen them in years. Sometimes we get orders for people who I have never even seen. Because of this part of the rule, many internet sellers game the system in order to make a sale. They should not be allowed to fill expired prescriptions. Ask any eyecare practitioner and they will tell you about seeing patients who have had orders filled for years with no examination being done.
