As an optometrist in private practice, I have patients who are receiving a year supply of contact lenses without a valid prescription. 1-800 contacts have called our office with an automated message verifying a contact lens prescription. I faxed 1 800 contact lens stating the prescription was expired immediately after the phone call. They called again the next day. I again took the time to fax them again stating it was expired. They filled the prescription anyway. This is a public health concern, as I have many patients who have corneal scarring that needs to be addressed at their annual exam. Corneal scarring and neovascularization leads to loss of vision. I'm tired of companies with big money making profit illegally without care for the patient's safety. The online retailers need to be completely shut down.
