16 CFR Part 315; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request; Contact Lens Rule: FTC Project No. R511995
Consumers are able to submit contact lens verification. However the respective companies will contact our office after hours, not allowing enough time for verification. There have been some cases when we do not even receive verifications and patients are getting contacts that are not verified by our office or where the prescription is expired. This is very dangerous to patients and leading to more corneal ulcers. There needs to be more of a central verification. Sometimes they call for verifications in the middle of the day and we cannot stop what we are doing just to write down parameters. Require faxes or an email verification system.
