Please review this policy CLOSELY and close some loop holes. Patients are able to get a copy of their contact lens prescription and order from the supplier of their choice. However, this regulation is being used outside of it's intent. Contact lens suppliers are actively targeting patients to get them to order outside the limits of the prescription and/or fishing for patient information. Contact lenses classified as medical devises and should be treated as such just as hypertension medication is. Please close the following loop holes: #Passive verification of prescriptions: patients a receiving the supply BEFORE we even get a verification request #unlimited supply: patients are able to order 100 boxes of a 8box/year brand of contacts #multiple vendors: there is no "transferring" prescription regulation in place. Contact lenses can be order from 5 different suppliers thus getting more than a year supply (as written on the Rx). #unfortunately there are NO GENERICS. The online supplies should NOT be giving patients medical advice in proactively requesting alternative brands for patients. People are finding the loop holes. Contact lenses are MEDICAL devices. Please treat them as such rather than a commodity.
