16 CFR Part 456 ; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request Ophthalmic Practice Rule (Eyeglass Rule): FTC Project No. R511996
Thank you for providing an opportunity to comment on Eyeglass Rule, 16 CFR Part 456, Project No. R511996. I find it frustrating that every time I try to buy a new pair of glasses, I have to update my prescription because it's "expired." However, my prescription rarely changes, and I have an extremely low prescription anyway. I usually only wear glasses when driving or when I need to see things well far away. I can see out of my current glasses just fine, and if I couldn't, I would go in to see my ophthalmologist for an eye exam. In fact, my ophthalmologist recommends that I go in once every three years unless I am experiencing any issues with my eyesight. Therefore, I should be able to use a prescription for more than just a year. I already have to visit my family doctor, my dentist, and my dog's veterinarian once a year. If I only have to visit my ophthalmologist once every three years (per his recommendation), that saves me time and money. Thank you for your consideration.
