This is a comment for Eyeglass Rule, 16 CFR Part 456, Project No. R511996. I strongly agree with the idea that doctors should be required to include a patient's pupillary distance measurement in the finalized prescription. As an optician at Warby Parker, I speak with many patients/customers who are frustrated with the fact that they must take additional steps in order to provide a complete prescription to whichever organization they choose to purchase glasses from. The PD measurement is essential for an accurate placement of the lenses within a frame. Since the placement of the lens is just as important as its power in most cases, a prescription without the PD measurement is simply an incomplete prescription. I hope you will agree that the PD measurement should be included as part of every eyeglass prescription. Thank you for taking time to consider this comment as an important change to the Eyeglass Rule.
