I'd like to comment on Eyeglass Rule, 16 CFR Part 456, Project No. R511996. I've worn glasses for 22 years and my prescription has only changed 3-4 times, about once every 5-6 years. It doesn't make sense to have my prescription re-evaluated annually when it usually ends up being the exact same. It is especially frustrating when a pair of eyeglasses breaks or a lens cracks and I must get new prescription lenses, only to find that in order to obtain new glasses I must first make an appointment with an opthalmologist -- especially if, after the end of the appointment I'm both seventy dollars poorer and have no measurable change to my prescription strength. I'm confident that I can self-determine when I should go get my eyes checked, just like I do for every other aspect of my health.
