To whom it may concern: I have conducted psychological research including studies involving improving attention for fifty years. I strongly object to the handling of the case of Carrot Neurotechnology. Your treatment of this work will cause many developers of methods for improving attention and perception to avoid sharing their work with the public and thus cause great harm to people needing help. Carrot Neurotechnology has been a model for presenting well researched methods without likely side effects to improve aspects of cognitive function. These methods could be useful to the public and often replace methods that are more invasive, expensive and have significant side effects. This is not to claim that every marketed method has strong scientific support, but the effects that Carrot Neurotechnology uses are well researched and supported. The strongly punitive punishment will harm efforts to help the public with the results of scientific research. Sincerely, Michael Posner Prof. Emeritus of Psychology University of Oregon Member NAS, NAM
