FTC To Host Workshop on Cross-Device Tracking Nov. 16
I'm a micro-business owner who is leasing the Clover machine from First Data (although I was told it was a rental). A year into it, and now the credit card industry has come up with the chip to protect consumers. That's a great thing, but our credit card accepting systems are not equipped to do so, so we now have to upgrade. I contacted First Data to inquire about it and they told me they have the FD-40 Pin Pad available for sale or lease. So tiny business owners have to pay to protect the credit card industry? Are we having any kind of "bail out"? Is it even legal to sell something to a merchant knowing that in one year they had to buy an upgrade? (The credit card industry has known this for a while, right?).
