?I recently started working on mturk. I lost my job a little over a year ago [REDACTED]. I have not been able to rejoin the "normal" workforce [REDACTED]. Alas, my life savings has only lasted so long so I needed to find a way to make money. I found mturk and started out making around $.50 per day. Yes, per day. Many many many hits pay $.01 to $.02 per two or three or more minutes. I was making $.30 per hour. I have since gotten better and average $1 to $1.50 per hour. Of that I will owe over 15% social security and Medicare tax. But, I have literally no other options. I have to try to take care of my family the best way I can during this time of turmoil. A big problem I see is requesters can also arbitrarily reject your work and you have no recourse. I recently had a $1.50 job that took me an hour to do be rejected which means I get no pay for it and it counts against my record. It would be nice if this was better regulated. Also, it would be fantastic if requesters would pay at least minimum wage instead of slave wages.
