The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
"Greetings to all! I am Neecy Clark. I began driving as a partner approximately 4 months ago. Uber has enriched my livelihood. I was blessed to retire and begin receiving a pension in 2009. Retirement is great. Since retiring I am afforded the opportunity to enjoy and help when and where needed with my 3 adorable grandchildren. I am fondly called Granny by the grands. I refer to myself as Granny the Nanny who gets paid with Love, Hugs and Kisses. The payments received is priceless, however no bank will accept them nor will the grocery store. This is where uber comes in. My daughter told me about uber and suggested that I check out their website and I did. I submitted the documents required to become a driver. A criminal background check was done and my driver record was checked along with proof of insurance. I was placed on hold for approximately two weeks until everything was completed. Once everything was completed I was notified that I was an official partner. I viewed the videos online and read everything available for my venture. I am still first and foremost Granny the Nanny but I now receive a weekly deposit into my bank account for the uber driving I did during the previous week. After my grands are in school I oftentimes drive for uber. I also drive evenings and night. Uber gives me the opportunity to remain Granny the Nanny and when time permits to uber and make money. I am looking forward to building my uber driving into a 40 hour a week adventure. I know that when I put the hours in it is well worth my time and there is no, I mean absolutely no interference with my first love which is being Granny the Nanny. I have driven many wonderful people from all walks of life while driving as a uber partner and I love it. I pray that everything is worked out and uber is here to stay. I enjoy being able to make money, enjoy people, have fun and earn money in my spare time. Praising God for uber, opportunity and flexibility. Neecy aka Granny the Nanny"
