To Whom It May Concern, I became a kindergarten teacher in Chicago, when my daughter and I returned from China. On the Southside of Chicago, I financially stifled I have recently began hostessing guests through Air BnB. I started my Bed and Breakfast as a result of a sudden decrease in state educational funding which meant a complete salary cut (you couldn't imagine). I'm writing because I want to let it be known why my BnB means so much for the Southside of Chicago, Michelle and President Obama's home. There's a deep history on the Southside of Chicago and with each visitor, more and more of that history is aquired, then taken to different parts of the world. Moreover, I am able to legitimately, immediately becoming financially stable, my daughter(4yrs) is learning how to be an entrepreneur by helping me run my BnB, my neighbors are appreciating the different cultures of my guests. I have managed to accessorize my Bed and Breakfast with an Urban Chicagoan twist that I'm quite proud of, but there's an ENTIRE MARKET that Ikea has overlooked, African-American single mom looking to decorate without breaking our budget. I am starting a movement of Bed and Breakfast places and show the world Chi-Raq (A movie currently being produced about Chicago's crime, danger, etc.) is NOT a title we take pride in, but Chi-Rock better represents my poverty, crime, drug-infested city because Air BnB is providing options. I have recently passed my Information Technology Infrastructure Library ITIL-Foundations certification exam. My training center has encouraged students to focus on completing our training (I still have Network+, Security+ and A+), before working a full-time job, but I have to support my daughter. AirBnB allowed me to use what I currently had, a VERY empty apartment, cleaning aids and an app. Now I can continue going to school, taking care of my daughter with a means of making a few bucks, just wished there ARE MORE OPPORTUNITIES. My Ikea decorated home, helps me to escape the ups and DOWNS of my city. AirBnB could be apart of our city's crime makeover, we no longer want to focus on shootings, crime, police brutality, but instead we want to put the LOVE, NURTURING, and JOY of a loving family into our homes and it starts with financial stability! Kind Regards, Lori
