When I suddenly lost my job, we did not have enough savings to take us past six months. Finding another job was turning out to be more difficult than anticipated even after several years of experience at my previous job. To keep paying bills including mortgage, we decided to rent our home to people who would have trusted verifications. Airbnb provided us a way to rent our home to people we could trust our home with for short terms. Just a few nights a month gave us the financial means to keep our house, and stay away from building any debts. Our guests have been respectful of the neighbors and the house. Airbnb has been a great service and resource. We could not have gotten out of our difficult times, as far as we did, without Airbnb. I am sure there are many other middle class families that have had similar experiences and appreciate the option of shared economy where we have the opportunity to work honestly through our homes and vehicles and stay afloat. We have also been able to avoid using any assistance from the government during this period.
