My husband and I started hosting through AirBNB about 17 months ago, just to make a little extra money and see if we liked the experience. We had used AirBNB as guests previously when we traveled outside of New Orleans and had good experiences each time. Once we started hosting, we discovered that this was a wonderful and sustainable way to make extra income and meet wonderful people from all over the world. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we applied for and were granted a B&B license from the city to operate 'completely above the radar'. Regardless of our official status though, we advertise for our rooms EXCLUSIVELY through AirBNB because the service is so safe, convenient and attracts the most engaging and wonderful travelers that there are. We sincerely believe that the 'sharing economy' is here to stay....and we embrace it!
