The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Having Airbnb options helps to make ends meet: These options has help to reduce my financial worries & empowered me to pay my bills! I'm an employed woman who earns extra money (because of my Airbnb options) to help pay my bills, rent, or buy food with extra funds I receive by sleeping on my couch when I invite guest in my home. It's no easy task. In fact, at first I was afraid of the thought of inviting strangers into my home. However, the Airbnb tools verifies ID's & enables me to communicate with potential guest which helps to terminate any fears and helps ensures my safety. The option of hosting guest allows me to remain in my apt due to the extra money I earn listing my room for rent on Airbnb. We meet exciting new people, and perhaps even form new bonds, and relationships. However, my primary reason for hosting an Airbnb guest is to earn money to help pay my rent. In addition to communicating with potential guest via, email, phone, and social media, the Airbnb application provides me with important information & ID verification to help ensure my safety before I make a decision to invite each guest into my home. I'm educated, employed, available to work over time, and listed with several nursing agencies in a right to work state and do not have a secured monthly income to meet my monthly obligations. Airbnb is an important option which allows me to earn extra income to help pay my bills. Airbnb helps sustain my local economy by supporting small business in my community simply because I purchase extra household items from small business, and my gust can shop for gas, coffee, and/or local dinning.
