"I started Uber October 30,2014 after 4 years of not being able to work due to sciatica. I was a Restaurant Manager for 25 years and then went to The service industry and in 20011 my back was hurting more and more and with pain shooting down my leg. We did not have insurance and we couldn't even afford to stay on Obamacare after 3 months. Money was too tight. Even now with being behind in bills we are unable to afford insurance at this time but it will come. I have been unable to even go shopping without a shopping cart to push around or a buggy to ride when available. I did try and work for a taxi but after working 36 hours and only making $126.00 out of a book of $600.00. I was told that I would make 50% of book about 100 a day, they implied that the $100 a day was after gas then minus the gas $50-$60 I was only making $40 a day. I have not worked for $3.00 an hour since 1979 16 years old working for McDonald's. Uber has allowed me to put food on my table and feel good about myself again. Thank You Uber!"
