The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I have been in the transportation business in Southwest Florida since 2007. For too many years now, the taxi industry has been takin advantage of by taxi companies customers pay too much for rides and drivers are being taken advantage of as well. Uber brings a fresh outlook to the industry. They make sure both the clients and drivers are safe in a variety of ways. Technology of this century must allow not only large corporations but small individuals to earn an honest living. Uber provides its drivers with support and advertising for a small fee. It ensures that proper insurance is in place for everyone's protection. Althought I encourage everyone to operate legally, I think it's time for the FTC to become modernized and accept the new technology present here with the Uber App. I ask and encourage everyone to embrace this step forward. It's time for large companies to stop taking advantage of the population by overcharging for transportation. I have also been a manager of these taxi companies and have seen poor consideration that is given to the drivers. Thank you for your time Bruno Cyr
