The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
My name is Raul Martin, I'm a native to our beautiful city of Miami. Both my children were born here and are 2nd generation native south floridians. My eldest child, [REDACTED] will be 21 years old this year and is in his second semester of University The reason I shared the above story is because I'm eternally greatfull to our city and its community leaders that every day for the past 22 years since 1998 I have served and continue to give back to our cities residents and its visiting tourists by providing the best possible service I can thru my job which allows me direct interaction with both. I have worked in the hospitality jndustry here since 1998 hotels such as the Mayfair Hotel, the Sofitel Hotel and Biltmore Hotel and know I work for Uber which allows me to have a direct one on one interaction with people visiting our beautiful city, I truly enjoy and speak so passionate about our city to everyone I jnteract with and because I'm a native I'm very familiar and helpful to our visitors when they have questiones about what to do or where to visit etc I'm like a mobile driving Concierge they find me very helpful and that makes me feel great. This dynamics of people feeling good at my hands is so rewarding to me and makes feel like I'm giving back to a city which I luv. Uber has allowed me to take my visioned service skills to their highest potentials by being a personal chauffeur to our residents and visitors alike. Here's the moral / route of my story, the money I generate by working for Uber helps pay for my sons University expenses..and only because of its working flexibility in hours which it allows its employees to have make their own work schedules. I could never generate any funds to help my son if I had to work a p/t job with a scheduled b/c my primary work schedule would not allow for the two to co-inside such as Uber does. Thank You Uber for existing and allowing us to create our own work schedules. Raul Martin"
