The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
My husband and are are Airbnb hosts. We began this journey one year ago and have found many rewards in having this opportunity. Our hope, when we first listed our space, was to make enough money monthly to pay our utility bills. We are close to being empty nesters and the extra rooms and high costs were beginning to hurt us financially. We researched Airbnb and felt they were a trust worthy company with many messaging tools that help hosts get to know the people they choose to share their space with. This way of traveling is an important option for the middle class families in America to earn extra money along with bringing all of us closer together in this amazing community. The guests who stay in Airbnb listings generate sustainable, local economic activity that supports the small businesses in communities across the country.
