In 2011, the grant for my job was not renewed and I joined the ranks of the unemployed. I had been renting my basement apartment from time to time, but Air BNB helped me market my apartment to a broader audience and screen those who would rent from me. The opportunity to rent my apartment for exponentially larger sums of money helped me through a time of financial disaster and continues to help me maintain my home as I rebound from the effects of the unsteady economy. Not only has AirBNB been a help to me financially, but also the Web site has created a supportive community. I have not only hosted many people from all over the world, but I have also had the opportunity to plan travel with AirBNB. Those who visit my home ask for suggestions for shopping and restaurants. I feel I can support the local businesses through the suggestions I provide online. The many guests I have hosted through AirBnb have been wonderful. I've enjoyed hearing their stories and introducing them to my community. I hope that you will understand the value of sharing communities. It makes the visits much more authentic and the world a little smaller.
