The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Our Airbnb hosting experience has allowed us to continue to send our 3 year old to preschool for next year by providing much needed funds to our one income family. Further, the folks staying with us are doing so because they are looking for a family friendly, child-proofed space for them and their children. Hotels in the city simply can't provide that, and thus the money these tourists bring into the city is money that would simply not be here without the option of Airbnb. We're really proud of our space and happy to be able to touch the lives of so many travelers who move through Boston. I sincerely hope any legislation that emerges for the sharing economy does so with the recognition that self selection and autonomy are critical to the process and that over-regulation is the wrong approach.
