The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I worked in Washington for 35 years before retiring. Given my many friends and memories in DC, it is important to me to be able to return regularly. This is possible on my limited retirement income because I purchased an efficiency condo in DC and am using income from renting the condo through AirBNB to make the payments. If I did not have my condo, the expense of Washington hotels would prevent me from visiting my old hometown. Many of my guests, including many students, tell me that they too could not afford a hotel in DC, but the $100 nightly rate on my condo made a trip to DC possible form them.
