The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Renting our guest suite on AirBnB is helping us pay our bills in retirement. I am paying occupancy taxes monthly and paid income tax this year on our earnings from 2014. [REDACTED] We are extremely grateful for the opportunity with AirBnB to make needed extra income. AirBnB handles the payments and fees so there is no opportunity for anyone to be cheated, swindled. Guests come with recommendations as do the hosts. We have had only positive experiences. Plus we are enjoying meeting the people who stay with us. We are in NC, and have had folks from Michigan, California, Spain, and just this weekend, a nice young woman from Moscow! I never thought I would have such a fun 'part-time job' once I retired.
