The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
We are Middle Class Americans who were in some financial difficulties trying to pay our mortgage, water, and utility bills because the area we live in became very expensive because of the internet technology boom. Our city and the electric and gas providers assume that we are well off as well; but we are retired and the Treasury Department has printed so much money that the inflation has cut our meager pensions in half! Thank you Federal Government! I am a stone image carver, and my wife is a nurse; and we both have worked hard all our lives. Airbnb checks on the legitimacy of the email address, credit card acceptability, and other factors of our guests; while we require every guest to furnish a photo and background profile. So far these checks and precautions have given us guests of high caliber and trustworthiness. Our guests are mostly tourists from all over the world, and people who have business in the tech industry. From what we notice, they bring a lot of money to our area and then return to their homes. What a deal for the local economy! They visit local restaurants and buy specialty goods from small businesses, and local stores. For God's Sake, why don't you people do something for the Middle Class for a change? We don't have a hotel here -we are only renting out some rooms. Thank You, Nuala & Thomas Dietrich
