Airbnb HELPED ME TO SAVE MY HOUSE.After I lost my son in a car accident and lost my job 10 months later, I was facing a foreclosure. Renting my own room thru Airbnb generated a good source of revenue. I met wonderful people from all over the world who helped me to go thru the grieving process. Some of them became friends. Airbnb's trust safety and messaging tools system help the host to get to know the people I choose to share my space with before I actually accept a bookin.I truly think it is a different crowd of traveling who use Airbnb, they are very respectful of your property, most of the time extremely polite and courteous. Middle class family can afford a one night stay at my house when most of the hotels and guesthouses ask for a 3-4 nights minimum with much higher rate than what I charge my guests.I also truly believe Airbnb is helping the entire community, and everyone is making sustainable revenue, specially here in Key West, the guests who stay at my house will go to the restaurants and bars, they will spend money on a day or sunset cruise, will go shopping, rent a kayak, go sailing... my guests are helping the local economic activity and support the small businesses. It is a good trade, everybody is supporting eachother, not only Airbnb and the host, but the guests who couldn't afford a regular hotel room in Key West, most of the reviews I received talk about the local tips I give them, it is a gain of time to know from your host, where is the best restaurant or bar to go to, where are the museums, basically what to do and what to see overall, I will take the time to explain them and answer all questions when sometimes a person at a hotel front desk won't have that precious time to spend with their guests. Airbnb has a fantastic team, they are backing us up all the time, because they won't make money if we don't make money, we are part of their business and they are always there for us to answer our questions, or/and dealing with issues when it is the case. Airbnb advertise for us, their site is very self explained for the guest and for the hosts. Easy to navigate, the earnings are always deposited on my accounts. We, as hosts, can be visible or not on the site, we are free to rent or not depending of the time of the year, there is a huge flexibility and no pressure. Airbnb changed my life, my 18 years old just graduated from High School and I will be able to pay for his college because I am renting my room with Airbnb. I could say so much more on how fortunate and thankful I am since I am working with Airbnb
