Short term vacation rentals are severely impacting very tight rental markets in California. And this enterprise is being done often in complete and utter violation of local zoning ordinances and building codes. What about ADA compliance for this commercial operation? Whole rental units are being removed from the rental market and we have a vacancy rate of 1/2 of 1% in Santa Barbara. CA faces a huge housing supply problem for low and middle income workers, seniors and the disabled. This removes needed housing and increases it's cost. It cannot be allowed to proliferate.
