The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
As a retired educator, divorced, and trying to get ends meet, I learned of Airbnb from my niece, so I thought I would give it a go. I live close to the LSU campus, and many folks like to come in for sporting events, graduations, visits to family, etc. and often find it challenging to find hotel rooms: affordable hotel rooms. Many times families have children, and want a comfortable place for them to stay, a place to cook meals, and a place to hang out. This arrangement helps them and helps me. The local grocery stores do well as do many restaurants. Considering the costs of a college education, static incomes, and local availability of affordable hotels, this service is a win-win for all. Many people would be shut out of meaningful activities without it.
