My husband left my family three years ago and I am a single, self employed mom of three. I was going to lose my home if I didn't find a way to significantly increase my income. So I started renting out rooms and my house on an internet platform that facilitates person to person rentals. I just started two months ago but it appears that the income from this is going to allow me to get a mortgage alone, buy out my husband and keep my home (it was mine alone when my husband and I met). My neighbors know I do this and that I will stop if it ever bothers them but they are supportive and understand my need for this income. I stay in my RV at camp grounds when I need to out of my home or with friends. There is not enough hotels or housing in Boulder in general and so this helps visitors who need a place to stay. The government should not get involved in these matters unless there is a just cause for them to do so.
