The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
After college graduation, I faced difficulty finding a job. Despite my four-year Environmental Science degree, part-time student jobs as an IT assistant and involvement in student groups, I could not find an entry-level position matching my skillset and experience. I turned to Airbnb, both as an opportunity to meet guests from around the world and support myself as a recent graduate making ends meet. The fact that I can get to know the guest visiting me beforehand by communicating with them and looking at their profile to check their verification puts my mind at ease. I am so grateful to have this opportunity and a source of extra income while I attempt to support myself.
