The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I have a cabin in the mountains near Leavenworth, WA about 3 hours from home. I'm only able to use 1 weekend a month or less. I am able to share it with other families and give them the wonderful experience of being in the mountains, whilst allowing me to reduce my cost of ownership. The people that come to use it visit the nearby town of Leavenworth, and spend money on food & entertainment in the area. I believe that everytime I rent it out it contributes between 500-750 to the local economy on top of the rents I receive. Every time it rents I hire a cleaning service for $150 that I contribute back, by providing those jobs.
