I have hosted two medical students, a veterinary student, a nursing student, a pharmacy student, a recreation therapy student, an engineering intern, and three martial arts students who would otherwise have had a hard time finding housing at a reasonable cost in this area for two weeks to three months(because of high rent costs and usually the need to sign a lease for at least six months). I have been contacted through airbnb by two organizations that arrange for home stays for students (one for students learning English and one for ice-skaters training for the Olympics). I have also had a number of inquiries that I could not accommodate because of a lack of space. Airbnb is definitely a service for these students and interns! I have also found reasonable places to rent for several nights in five cities around the world (so far), thus contributing to those families' livelihoods, making it possible for me to spend money on other things like restaurant meals and sightseeing (the main reason I like to travel).
