The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
After our children were grown and gone and our father in law passed we had 3 empty bedrooms and bathrooms. We worked hard to pay our bills but it was not enough. Getting older, out of work and knowing a minimum paying job was NOT going to keep us in our home, I researched renting rooms. We traveled with friends to Italy in 2007 with Airbnb and they seemed to be the one I liked best. I said a prayer, gave it to GOD and dove right in. It has been 2 wonderful years. We are paying our bills, taxes, meeting and greeting people from places around the world I never knew existed. My grandson meets and greets people and even will include our bnb in his learning at school. In the middle of it all Christmas Day I fell and broke my arm, shoulder, wrist. That same night people came in from Switzerland and Italy. My family came to my rescue to help, however my paying guests were so awesome too. Everyone has been so wonderful. I am hosting "exclusively" now with Airbnb. I do also try my best to promote and generate local economic activity that support small business in my community.
