I have been an AirBNB hostess for 7 months so far. I have no income and Social Security barely covers medical insurances, mortgage and taxes. Without the extra income from having paying guests, I would have to go on welfare. I have a large, clean house and extra, empty bedrooms. The people who come to stay with me spend a good deal of their money in my area at restaurants, gift shops, fuel stations etc. They prefer the homey atmosphere and friendly hostess and do not want to stay at more traditional places. AirBNb screens the guests, collects identification and damage deposits. I believe it is a win-win situation all around.
