I couldn't have discovered Airbnb at a better time. I had been laid off from work and I was having trouble finding work and my unemployment ran out. I discovered Airbnb and I did some research on competing sites such as VRBO and Flipkey and I liked the feel of Airbnb so I decided to give it a shot. I listed my home. I have been renting it out for almost a year now and it saved me from potentially losing my home. My taxes were behind so I had an extra 500.00 a month added to my mortgage and I had no way to keep up on all of the expenses including my mortgage. I was lucky enough to have a family member close by who offered my a place to come to while my house is rented. Now I have not been super busy or made a ton of money, however it has been enough to pay my mortgage and subsequently save my house from being foreclosed.
