The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I have been doing Airbnb for over 4 years now and must say it is a blessing for me and the people who use the service. I am in Cambridge near MIT and most of my people are associated with MIT and cannot find affordable living space for the times they are in Cambridge for classes or events. It is a service that the people fully appreciate, and I too appreciate the income from it. I only will have social security and it is not enough for me to sustain a life style that I have. I am not a big spender but the amount I received could never cover my expenses once I am retired. It is truly a blessing for all concerned to be able to use Airbnb for people who need the service. The people who come, come back again and again, and it is truly a service that they appreciate and use readily. I think that this kind of service helps a lot of folks who need extra income including those who have lost jobs, and who have less than they need for retirement. I truly believe that a service like this is something to appreciate and know that all would be sad to see it not be accepted long term.
