The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Dearest Airbnb and Washington D.C. You saved my life this year when unemployment stop paying me after six months after working thirty years of my life full-time employment after being laid off work for 2 years now with United Airlines after the merger with Continental Airlines. I cashed in my 401K to survive this merger process of layoffs of us hard working dedicated loyal employee's who paid into the funds to receive one day and be turned away after six month unemployed. Congress let me down and I paid my $18,000 dollars taxes on the early out 401K to survive my rental apartment and car payment for two years now. The time came when i ran out of money and had no way of paying my apt rental of $2,100 dollars and was able to use AirBNB not to break my lease and be put on the street with nothing. I've managed to rent it for a better price to pay my car and eat food to survive until i can get back on my feet with a career will studying in school for new career path at age forty-nine year's old. I have no family to support me or help me and this was the perfect answer for me to stay above water and live less stress and fear. My two doggies are safe with a home because of Airbnb. Thank you for all you have done for me and helping me not be on the street while giving and helping out other's who have been able to travel and stay in my place at less price over hotels and other options. I hope Airbnb stays forever because so many of us are in this situation from all these mergers of companies and long term employment ending at older age with no self help from congress or state local.
