I am 66 years old and own a sheep farm in Maine. I run this farm by myself. There is an apartment connected between the house and the barn. My little apartment is listed on airbnb. If it wasn't for airbnb I would have lost my farm. The income from guests coming to the farm helps pay my mortgage. Airbnb does a great job sending wonderful people here, mostly from the city. Some families, some couples but most all of my guests are interested in the farm to table concept. Where is their food coming from? How does one actually farm, and at the same time enjoy a few days away in the beauty of Maine. I live hand to mouth, farming is hard..airbnb is not hard, and I love meeting new people. Sometimes my quests are the only people I see for weeks on end, so beside it being a great financial relief it is also a mental relief from the loneliness of farming.
