The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
We host a room through Airbnb since June 2014. With job loss and ongoing high cost of basically everything, this opportunity has help us to survive as well as provide a safe and affordable place for others in the same situation. Sharing a space on Airbnb has helped us pay our mortgage, groceries, gas, medical bills, basically making ends meet. We are thrilled that Airbnb's goes to great length to provide trust and safety and messaging tools that help hosts get to know the people they choose to share their space with. Airbnb is an important option for us and the middle class families in America to earn extra money. The guests who stay in Airbnb listings also generate sustainable, local economic activity that supports the small businesses and events in our community and all communities across the country. We own a small Mom & Pop business and know the struggles and appreciate when out of town visitors shop/support local hometown businesses. This opportunity is a blessing for us and the many people who use it. We are proud to be helping to protect and strengthen the sharing economy for everyone. Thank you for your time but most importantly your support. Candy & Freddie Pack
