The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Uber mistreated drivers and always allure and recruit new and naive drivers. Uber threatens to DEACTIVATE drivers if any of the following conditions is met. 1 Acceptance Rate is less than 90% Uber purposely send driver a request that is 10 miles or 20 minutes away to pick up. Uber will not pay any dead miles from current location to pick up location. This strategy forced drivers drive long way to pick up a $4 ride. If driver declined this request, it will bring down driver's acceptance rate. 2 Driver's rating is lower than 4.6 New drivers are always starting from a rating of 5.0. The longer you drive, the lower rating you will have. Uber deceives the passenger that tip is included and tip is not necessary. At $1/mile fare, everyone knows how cheap the fare is. However, 95% passengers don't tip. They have very good reasons or feel very righteous by not tipping. Either they pretend they don't carry cash or they said Uber told them tip is included. Nowadays, passengers don't tip. If drivers do not load/unload luggage for them, they will give driver a lower rating. Some passengers don't give destination. Instead, they enjoy being a back seat driver and give authoritative verbal commands to the driver. They disrespect drivers and do not appreciate the service. They like to ask driver. "Do you like driving Uber?" If drivers replied "Yes", this confirmed "Tip is not necessary" and made passengers felt less guilty in consciousnesses. If the reply is "No", they are smart to ask "Then, why you kept driving Uber?" Uber changes the world, twists the value and bully drivers. Who will speak for drivers? In the old days, the American dream is if there is a will, there is a way. If you work hard, you will make dream true soon or later. Driving Uber at $1/mile will just be a slave to Uber and passengers. Uber destroys American spirit and justice completely. Not many people ever notice the struggling and suffering drivers. Uber is screwing tens or probably hundreds of thousands of naive drivers, I feel compelled to not look away. We live in a society where bullying is a problem, not just for children, but adults too. And if you see something unjust and you look away, you're an accomplice. There is a reason why so many people are making noise and suing Uber. It's not because they're a billion dollar company. There are lots of billion dollar companies that people admire and love and want them to thrive. Uber is being sued everywhere and being looked at by governments and the FTC because no one has yet figured out how to get Uber to stop screwing drivers.
