My husband and I, empty nesters in our 60's, started hosting on Airbnb in order to help pay our mortgage when our financial circumstances greatly changed in 2008 as a result of the crash. Having space in our home that we were already using as a guest suite was a solution to help make ends meet. We've met some really wonderful people and feel like we've helped others who wanted to visit Nashville and have a neighborhood experience. We've found that many travellers prefer homesharing to a hotel, and their reasons are not always because of price, which is surprising. We feel Airbnb to be very pro-active and supportive of us as homeowner hosts listed on their site.
