I am a single mom. After my divorce, I went from a combined income of almost $200k to considerably less than that. With a son in private school, a mortgage, and everyday expenses, there wasn't a lot of money left over. Renting my guest bedroom through AirBNB has afforded me the opportunity to get ahead. The sharing economy is what being middle class is all about. I rent the guest bedroom in my home. The extra income allows me to travel with my son and educate him about different areas of the country and show him the world is bigger than our neighborhood. When we travel we try to stay with ArBNB hosts. I feel good knowing my hard-earned dollar is helping other families. I enjoy meeting new people bs welcome many repeat renters. They get an awesome place to stay at a fraction of the cost of a comparable hotel and I earn extra money. Win-win.
