Dear Commission Representatives, I wanted to share my experiences as an AirBnB host with you. I am a US citizen, I have been working in Silicon Valley as an Engineer for over 15 years. Last year I lost my job with a major tech company due to having my job out sourced to India. Needing money I very nervously placed my apartment on AirBnB as I went to visit my family who lives out of state for the Holidays. My experience as an AirBnb host has been tremendous, it has helped me to see the good in people, my guest have been so appreciative and supportive. Frankly I would not have been able to pay my rent without them. I keep in close touch with the guest, most of them are professionals, some of them are parents. After my fist hosing experience I was so nervous my place would be a mess, yet the guest left it so clean and in wonderful shape. The feedback I have from guest is so wonderful, the help me to take care of my place. I have started leaving a few chocolates around for my guest and they are very appreciative. Sometimes I meet with the guest for a meal; some of them have helped me with my job search. Over-all being an Airbnb host has been a wonderful experience and it has really helped me in this time of unemployment when I really need some income. It has also displayed the best side of humanity and it has helped me to stay in the community I love.
