The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I first read about Airbnb in Wired magazine, I was a little skeptical in the beginning but I knew that the area I live in is very convenient to Washington, D.C., Annapolis, MD and Baltimore. Everyday American society hears about major corporations and the projects that they develop around the world. I classify my house as an asset and its location and appeal put me in direct competition with hotel chains int he local area. The people who have stayed at my house have saved money by staying there and with the money they save they turned around and put it back into the local community. I work two full time jobs and also in the military, for me Airbnb isn't about making money, its about community and social interaction. I pay taxes on the money earned so the government also benefits from this form of business. I hope that the government does what it can to reinforce Airbnb's infrastructure going into the future.
