The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I inherited my present home after the passing of my parents. The only way I can keep the house and pay the taxes and insurance is to earn extra income. I am doing this by renting 1/2 of the space through AirBnB. This has been a real blessing to me. I have made friends with each guest. Some of the nicest people in the world travel this way. Before meeting the guest I have an opportunity to verify the guest and discuss anything important to me with them. I have the opportunity to accept or reject each guest. I have always felt very confident in the guest I selected to stay in my home. Although, I have a fully equipped kitchen, I find that almost all of my guest enjoy the local restaurants and shops in my community, thus, stimulating our local economy. On the other hand, when I am traveling out of state I enjoy staying with a family I have gotten acquainted with through AirBnB. I fell much safer than in a hotel. Plus I make new friends and am always anxious to return. As a host or as a guest shaving a space is priceless. Thanks for your support.
